Tiger Woods Shoots 65 at Ridgewood
It has been a week of firsts for Tiger Woods. His divorce was finalized on Monday, his ex-wife did an interview with People magazine that was released on Tuesday, and on Thursday, for the first time in his golfing career, he was one of the first golfers to tee off in a tournament, and then he proceeded to shoot a 65, his lowest round of the year.
Tiger had a 7:10 tee time at Ridgewood Country Club in
Even though Tiger is still ranked No. 1 in the world, because he is ranked 112th in the FedEx Cup playoff standings, he was given the first tee time.
One advantage was that he was up early enough to miss all of the morning
Woods said that he was OK with the early tee time and maybe he should request this time all year as he had seven birdies, one bogey, and a seven-under par 65 that put him in a tie for the early lead with Vaughn Taylor.
Woods worked with a new coach, Sean Foley, all week in
“Playing early was an advantage because the greens were perfect,” Woods said after his round. “I know where my shots are going, and you know, that helps just a little bit.”
Because of his first round success, Woods will tee off Friday at a time he has been much more used to during his career. His tee time for the second round is 12:10 p.m.
