Dolphins Ricky Williams wants Contract Extension
According to a report on NBCSports.com, Dolphins running back Ricky Williams would really like a contract extension so that he can play with the team for another two years including this season.
"Ideally, right now, I would like to get a year extension with the Miami Dolphins, play this year and next year and then really focus on my schooling," Williams told ESPN.com.
Williams wants to play past this season and feels that he still has a couple of good seasons left in him.
Back in March, Williams hired a new agent in Drew Rosenhaus, who is known for playing hardball in order to get his clients what they want.
Williams would like to continue playing for the Dolphins and he wants a new deal.
Williams is 33 years old and scheduled to make a base salary of $4.35 million this year.
Given his age, you might think that any NFL team would be crazy to give him more money and an extension, but he did run for 1,121 yards and 4.7 yards a carry average last season, so it just might be a feasible request.
Williams wants to play two more seasons and then go back to school to get a pre-med degree.
Hmmm, paging Dr. Williams!
