According to an ESPN the Magazine report, all signs lead to the fact that Carmelo Anthony will most likely not sign a three-year $65 million contract extension with the Denver Nuggets and will end up playing elsewhere next season.

According to the report, it is now a matter of when, not if, Anthony will go his separate ways.

There are a couple of options in this scenario, but it is obvious that Anthony wants out of Denver.

Anthony could sign the extension with Denver and then convince the team to trade him.

He could not sign the extension, forcing the team to trade him rather than risk losing him next summer as a free agent.

One league source said "he's going to make it real clear that he's not coming back,"

Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke knew that Anthony wanted out at Anthony’s wedding reception.

During the toasts, several NBA players, including New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul, mentioned that Anthony should leave the Nuggets for the Knicks and the groom did not dismiss the idea.

Then Kroenke stood up to give a toast and the room went silent, especially when he suggested that Chris Paul come to the Nuggets.

Paul has since met with Hornets management and seems to be warming to the idea of staying in New Orleans, but all the signals from Anthony are saying that he wants out of Denver.
