Brett Favre Story Takes a new Twist
Written by Travis Pulver, Wednesday August 04 2010
Yes, he’s retired; no he’s not retired. The question looms even larger as the future of Brett Favre remains in doubt just as much now as it did a week ago.
If reports from a sideline reporter for Deadspin end up being substantiated then the whole tale of will he or won’t he play another season may quickly be forgotten.
Jenn Sterger worked the sideline of the New York Jets in 2008 for Deadspin; she now works as part of the cast of The Daily Line on Versus. She claims that she got some text messages from Favre, but they has nothing to do with retiring; they were pictures of, well—‘little Favre.’
It would be an interesting twist to an already convoluted story that is Brett Favre’s future. Earlier this week reports surfaced that the future Hall of Famer was calling it quits, citing the wear and tear on his body namely his ankle as reason for not playing a 20th season.
However, once these reports hit the newswire they were countered by reports from Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress saying that he has not been told anything. Even Favre’s family has said that no decision has been made yet.
The Vikings have shown what little weight they give Favre’s supposed retirement by offering him $16 million guaranteed and another $4 million in incentives.
If the allegations by Ms. Sterger ended having any truth to them it could really put an interesting spin on things. Will there be other people that got these pictures of ‘little Favre’ and could we have another Tiger Woods type scandal on our hands?
Only time, and probably TMZ, will tell.
