Kindle not doing so Good After All
Written by Travis Pulver, Tuesday July 27 2010
Initial reports on the condition of Baltimore Ravens second round draft pick Sergio Kindle were not too alarming; while he was expected to possibly miss the beginning of camp it was assumed he would eventually join the team after a few days.
Now there are reports that the former defensive end/ linebacker from the University of Texas will miss all of training camp, and could even end up on the the physically unable to perform list or PUP list.
Kindle suffered a fractured skull after falling down two flights of stairs while visiting a friend’s house in Austin. Doctors now say that he can’t travel for at least three weeks while he recovers from the injury. Head coach Jim Harbaugh had this to say concerning Kindle:
"I know one thing, we're going to be very careful with that. You're talking about a head injury and playing football…That's not something we want to mess with. From a football standpoint, we'll move on with the guys we've got." (NFL)
As the severity of the issue has become known, more details of the actual incident have been released by Harbaugh.
"He stayed overnight, got up in the middle of the night and took a wrong turn…It was pitch black where he was at -- he couldn't see where he was going –- and he fell down two flights of steps, so that's what we know." (NFL)
The team has had an offer on the table for Kindle, but with his recovery from the injury less certain than before, the team may hold off on contract talks with Kindle.
