Michael Vick Cleared to Play after Shooting Incident
The NFL has completed its investigation into the shooting concerning the shooting at Michael Vick's birthday party last month in
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in an email; "there is no change in his playing status."
Police said that Vick left the scene of the shooting minutes before it occurred and he has not been implicated in any way by the authorities.
The NFL could have disciplined Vick under the personal conduct policy even though he has not, nor will he be, charged by the police. Vick's attorney has said that he was gone from the scene before the shooting took place.
Vick reportedly met with Commissioner Roger Goodell, who urged Vick to tighten his circle to family and close friends.
The timing of the announcement allows Vick to know his status before reporting to the Eagles training camp as Eagles quarterbacks and rookies are due to arrive at training camp on Monday.
Once he arrives at camp, Vick is expected to answer questions from reporters for the first time since the incident.
Quanis Phillips, one of Vick's codefendants in the dogfighting ring, was the person shot in the leg outside of the party.
