Cardinals Win Eight Straight
Written by Christopher Corazon, Thursday July 22 2010
The hottest team in MLB right now is the St. Louis Cardinals. They won their eighth game in a row on Wednesday when they beat the Phillies. The Cards beat Houston in the last game before the All-Star break, then swept the Dodgers in a four game series. The win over the Phils makes it three in a row over Philadelphia, the Cards go for another four game sweep in an afternoon match against the Phillies.
The recent success has put St. Louis on top in the NL Central again. Last year, the Cards got hot and separated themselves from a crowded NL Central race. This year, it has really been a two team affair. They have opened up a 1.5 game lead on the surprising Cincinnati Reds, who lost to Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals.
