Vince Wolfork Speaks Out
The Hatfields and McCoys; Tom and Jerry; Democrats and Republicans; there are any number of entities that have been natural enemies for as long as anyone can remember. Such is typically the case with the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, even on the same team.
That is not the case with the at least two guys on the New England Patriots.
Logan Mankins refused to sign the one-year tender the Patriots offered him and has since seen it drop from $3.268 million to $1.54 million. Without a contract that he deems fair the Pro Bowl guard has said that is serious about holding out of training camp and into the season if necessary.
His teammate and natural enemy, defensive lineman Vince Worfolk, does not want to see that happen.
As the starting nose tackle for the Patriots, Worfolk has had the distinct pleasure of doing battle with Mankins on a near daily basis.
"I think he is the best offensive [guard] out there…I see the guy every year in camp and in practice we see each other. He's every bit of what you look for in an offensive lineman. He's got the toughness, he's got the strength, he's got the quickness, you name it, he's a complete football player, and to have one of them on the offensive line, it's very rare…For what it's worth, I don't want him to go anywhere. I think we'd lose someone very, very special. Somebody that's dedicated." (PFT)
Reports have surfaced that the Patriots have had an offer on the table to make Mankins one of the five highest paid guards in the league.
